In 2002 we began our partnership with our Architect to design a building that reflects a respect of the learner and the overall belief system of Community Montessori. We also created an Expansion Committee of parents, staff, and children to plan and design the overall learning environment. Over the past two years, we have developed the design and rationale of the “Dream School”.
The result is a the completion of Phase I, which includes:
- Eleven studio learning centers;
- Two commons areas;
- Seminar area;
- Media Center;
- Distance learning lab;
- Drama/theatre area;
- Single-user restrooms;
- Consuer Science lab(for health awareness);
- Parent library;
- Two outdoor play environments
Situated on our 11-acre site, the building is integrated into the environment to further show the students that learning happens everywhere and at all times. Our learning environment, with multiple learning areas and community use areas, connects our community with the learning experience of the child. This building will help fulfill many of the goals for Community Montessori, and will provide a truly powerful and positive educational choice for our community.
Phase II construction is underway, which includes plans for adding six additional studio learning centers, three more common areas, more seminar areas, an exploratory science lab, an additional consumer sciencelab and a multi-purpose activity center to support fitness and club sports.
